Snow is falling wildly in the wicked wind outside,
And the city is in a silent sort of shock,
Since spring is here, three whole days now.

Even the thick, bruised and bending tree trunks
Look forlorn,
As if they have been blushing for a birth
And found themselves barren yet again.

We sit inside, excited,
Already overwhelmed with the coming season's bounty.
Already wondering:
Where will we store the roots?
And, where will this baby sleep?
In front of us, the boys sing 'Jesus Loves Me,'
Bang drums and shake tambourines, smiling.

I call out to God in gratefulness,
And simultaneously feel his presence,
bursting with unashamed love,
And illogical joy!
